With just 3 more sleeps to the big Awards Night in the Rose hotel on Saturday night ,it is time to announce another winner of a very special award. When you ask anyone who is the top referee in ladies football in Ireland only one name springs to mind – Seamus Mulvihill. And after this year Seamus has the stats to back up this claim.

Kerry LGFA is honouring Seamus for what has been a fantastic year with the whistle for the Finuge/St Senans man. After being assigned to referee the National Football League final back in May, the Ladies Football association then called upon Seamus to referee the All Ireland minor final last August. After reffing both games with the understated commonsense that has become his trademark, they called upon him once more with the highest accolade available in Ladies football – to referee the All Ireland senior final. Dublin finally claimed the crown that day when they disposed of Mayo in front of a record attendance of 46,286 at Croke Park – and the greatest compliment that could be paid to Seamus is that nobody even noticed that he was there, in a game that was a great advertisment for ladies football. Well done Seamus Mulvihill – Kerry LGFA are honoured to have you as one of our own !
