Congratulations to Kerry U16’s on wonderful win on Wednesday 15th , as they defeated Dublin in the All Ireland A Semi Final on a scoreline of 3-14 to 3-09. Kerry started the brighter side with Hannah O’Donoghue getting an early goal and she was to prove a thorn in the Dublin side all day with her direct and powerful running.  This was followed up by a point by Erica McGlynn from distance. Kerry kept significant pressure on Dublin and Emma Dineen was winning good possession in midfield.  However Dublin caught the Kerry defence unaware and Danielle Lawson got her name on the score sheet with a goal. But Kerry didn’t panic and could have considered themselves unlucky when they had a goal disallowed from an apparent square ball, Hannah O’Donoghue looked up to see Erica McGlynn hovering near the goal and she palmed it in but it wasn’t counted. But Kerry followed up with points with Fiadhna Tangney, Erica McGlynn and Hannah O’Donoghue. Dublin again came back with a goal from their hard working corner forward Caoimhe O’Connor. But again the Kerry reply was swift with Hannah O’Donoghue receiving a pass from Fiadhna Tangney ghosted through the Dublin defence to hit a great solo effort goal. Half time score Kerry 2-08 Dublin 2-01. Kerry appeared to be cruising at the start of the second half with points from Liz Mohan, Erica McGlynn and goal from Aoife O’Callaghan. However the Dublin spirit showed strong  with Dublin beginning to dominate proceedings around the middle. Kerry began to struggle to win their kick outs with Dublin easily winning their own and also mopping up any breaking ball. Loose Kerry passes were also intercepted however Dublin could not penetrate the Kerry defence with any meaning as Tara Breen and Faye O’Donoghue put their body on the line at times with block downs and tenacious defending.  Also some wayward shooting from the young Dublin girls and bit of luck also played its part. Dublin did secure a penalty when corner forward  Caoimhe O’Connor was brought down and she coolly slotted it home. Kerry through some superb long range points from Hannah O’Donoghue and Erica McGlynn quelled any further fight back and settled Kerry nerves to seal their spot in the All Ireland Final. Final Score Kerry 3-14 Dublin 3-09.
