Well done to both sides. Ideal conditions for football with some excellent displays by both sides. It was end to end action that lasted right up to the final whistle. Thanks to Randles Brothers Nissan for sponsoring the competition this year & to Castleisland Desmonds GAA/LGFA for the use of the pitch. One again Gerdie & the team pulled out all the stops in Castleisland which added to the championship atmosphere.

Fossa and Clounmacon/Moyvane met in the Randles Bros Junior B Championship Final played in Castleisland Desmonds pitch on Sunday morning. C/M’s Erin Finucane was the first to register a point with Erica McGlynn pointing for Fossa. C/M were awarded a penalty which Gillian Musgrave converted. Fossa’s Shelly Clifford levelled the game with a well worked in goal. Julie Cronin with a point for Fossa before C/M’s Gillian Musgrave struck for a goal and Erin Finucane pointed from a free. Fossa replied with points from Erica McGlynn, Shelly Clifford and Julie Cronin. Half time score Fossa 1-5 Clounmacon/Moyvane 2-3. On resumption young Jodie Sheehan opened the scoring with a fine point for Fossa. Both teams battled it out over the next five minutes before another score would be registered such was the intensity of the game. Erin Finucane received a ball in over the top and despite the heroic efforts of Fossa’s Ciara Griffin her shot found the net. Points were then exchanged at both ends from Erica McGlynn and Erin Finucane. Muirne Wall pointed for C/M leaving four between the teams. A deliberate trip by the foot on Fossa’s Erica McGlynn saw Sheila Moore sent to the sin bin. At a time, Fossa should have pushed on but for wayward shooting and good saves from Marie Flaherty kept Clounmacon in the game. Two points by Fossa’s Julie Cronin and Erica McGlynn leaves two between the teams. Both teams were out on their feet Fossa’s Maud Kelly, Keelie O Connor, Fiona Kissane, Amy Moriarty and Anna O Reilly with stout defending. Erica McGlynn points from a free to leave the score C/M 3-5 to Fossa’s 1-10. 14 became 15 for Clounmacon/Moyvane only for Erin Finucane to be sent to the sin bin for a strike on Erica McGlynn. A long range effort from Shelly Clifford came back off the cross bar. Ashlea Sheehy, Ciara Hudson and Fiona Buckley in defence for Clounmacon/Moyvane played well. Other Fossa pressure also failed to yield a score. Clounmacon/Moyvane’s Ciara Haugh with a goal before referee Eddie Barrett blew the final whistle. Final Score Clounmacon/Moyvane 4-5 to Fossa’s 1-10. County Chairman and Moyvane native Sean Walsh was on hand to present the Randles Bros Junior B trophy to Clounmacon/ Moyvane captain Amanda o Donnell.
