Kerry U16 Captain

Introducing Kerry Ladies U16 captain for 2019

Rachel Dwyer from Waterville representing Southern Gaels Ladies Football Club has been selected to captain the Kerry ladies U16 team for the 2019 season. Rachel is no stranger to the position having had the honour of captaining her county at U14 level two years ago when she led her team by pure example from midfield to a Munster football crown and to an All Ireland final appearance a few weeks later. She followed that up last year with a further Munster crown and another All Ireland final appearance where again Rachel was one of the star performers on the day captaining the team from the number 6 position.
Ms Dwyer hails from a highly talented family with her father Denis being a winner of both minor and senior All Ireland medals and Denis was helped along the way by Rachel’s uncle, none other than Maurice Fitzgerald from Saint Marys GAA Club Cahersiveen. Rachel’s aunt Marie was also an All Ireland winner on the football pitch during the 1990’s having lined out for the Kerry ladies.
Rachel is a born leader and hugely popular with the team mates, she tirelessly works from the first to the last minute of every game and Rachel is well known for getting the best from everyone around her and encouraging everyone at training and on match days to do there best for both club and county.
We wish Rachel every success as she commences her quest for Munster championship glory yet again this Sunday 3rd March in Rathmore. Rathmore Ladies G.A.A Munster LGFA
