A Chara,

We have just launch this year’s competition for the Garda Youth Achievement Awards 2019 and I am in the process of sending out forms by post but in the meantime I am sending them electronically also so you can print them off if you wish and complete them or if you wish to return them by email then enclose the appropriate information from the first page of the nomination form – Name, Address and contact details and that of the nominator also and details for their achievements in an email and return it to the following email address: and that will suffice.  I understand that people are anxious to cut down on the need for paper in schools and offices so I am willing to assist anyway I can.

As per last year, we will have 20 merit award winners, and 4 other awards on the night:-  Group award, Special Achievement award and Community Safety Awards plus our Overall Individual Winner.  The winners from these four categories will be sent forward as the nominees from the Kerry Division for the National Youth Awards.  Last year two of our Nominees were recognised in the National Awards and hopefully this year will prove as successful.

Please remember to give as much detail as possible in relation to your nomination, as the judges will make their decisions based on the information on the form.  I have enclosed a briefing document with this email to help you in relation to the information required in each of the categories.  You do not need to specify which category you are nominating in relation to, unless you wish to do so, and nominations may be considered in more than one category (for example a group nomination may be considered in the community safety award category, or an individual nomination may be considered in the Special Achievement category).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on this email address or my office number is 066-7102374.  Our Juvenile Liaison Officers will also be in contact with many of you in the coming weeks if they haven’t already been there, so you may also direct any queries their way if you wish.

I look forward to receiving your nominations in due course.  Please note the closing date for this year’s competition is the 9th December 2019.
