Jacinta McCarthy from Lixnaw. is currently studying for a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy (Pre Reg) in Leeds Beckett University in the UK. As part completion of this programme she is required to complete a research dissertation.
Having been involved in pitch side first aid, massage and player well-being for over 5 years now within Kerry from local clubs, Tralee IT Sports clubs and the Kerry GAA minor football team she has proposed to her university to complete her research on the knowledge, attitudes and education towards sports related concussion in club level Gaelic games.
It is her hope from completing this research to identify any areas of knowledge, attitudes or education that can be improved on within Gaelic Games to make it a safer environment for everybody involved.
