Spa Are Crowned Randles Bros Junior A Champions Whilst Na Gaeil Capture Div 1.
Randles Bros Junior A final
Spa 3-15 Miltown/Listry 2-3
Spa were comprehensive 15 point winners over Miltown/Listry in the Randles Bros Junior A county championship final at Castleisland last Sunday.
Miltown/Listry had no answer to the winners movement and support play throughout the game, and although they tried hard throughout, there was always going to be only one winner in the finish.
The Killarney side played with a strong wind in the first half and raced into an early 2 points to nil lead after 2 minutes with Meghan Cronin and Mairead Finnegan from a free, slotting over.
Miltown/Listry soon came storming right back into the game and Lorna Hickey scored a goal after her shot for a point ended up in the back of the Spa net. Miltown/Listry were dealt a body blow soon afterwards when they lost Ella Teahan to what appeared to be an ankle injury.
Miltown/Listry were enjoying some good passages of play but the resolute Spa defence were dealing well with everything that they threw at them. At the other end the Spa forwards were in top gear and they soon added 6 points without reply with Finnegan contributing 4 and Ciara Moynihan and Lynn Jones also finding the posts.
The central axis of Finnegan and Jones were instrumental in everything good that Spa were producing. Ciara Moynihan was also putting in an excellent shift at wing forward, whilst Cassandra Buckley, Kate Maher and Gina Crowley were well in control at the back.
It looked like it would be a cake walk for Spa, but credit to Miltown/Listry who kept plugging away and an excellent attack involving Clodagh Evans and Meabh Rochford saw wing back Niamh Broderick hit an unstoppable shot past Linda Bruggener for a superb goal.
Spa took firm control once more however, and 3 unanswered points from Finnegan, Kearney, who was now in the full forward line, and Jones saw them take a 0-11 to 2 goals lead in at the break.
Miltown/Listry needed a good start to the second half but unfortunately for them Spa corner forward Meghan Cronin was first to strike with a goal after just 30 seconds. Spa then enjoyed a 15 minute period of dominance thereafter, and added further points from Kearney, Ciara Moynihan, Finnegan and Jones, with goals sandwiched in between from Moynihan and Finnegan, to put them firmly out of sight.
In fairness to Miltown/Listry they mounted a comeback of sorts for the remaining last quarter of the game and they forced Spa goalkeeper Bruggener into two great saves. They also added points from Louise O’Dowd, Lorna Hickey and 2 from Maeve Rochford, but it was too little too late as Spa were deserving winners.
Spa had top notch performances throughout the field and as well as those already mentioned, Sinead Cronin, Loretta Maher,, Mairead Bennett,Mags Cronin and Claire Moynihan can look back with satisfaction on their performances. Equally so Eilish O’Leary who put in a massive amount of work for her side.
For Miltown/Listry Lorna Hickey,Niamh Broderick, Mairead Lehane, Ciara Murphy and Caoimhe Evans and Clodagh Evans did best.

County League Division 1 Final
Na Gaeil 4-8 Rathmore 1-13
Na Gaeil added the Division 1 County league title to the Intermediate championship that they claimed a few weeks ago with an impressive victory over Rathmore in Scartaglin last Sunday.
The foundation for the Tralee side’s victory lay in an impressive first half performance when they took a wind assisted 2-7 to 0-4 lead in a the break. Na Gaeil scored goals from Jadyn Lucey and Ayesha Roche in that first half while Meagan Sheehy (2),Meabh Barry (2),Megan O’Connor, Clodagh McHugh and Nora O’Connell added points. Rathmore’s 4 scores came from the boot of the very accurate Noreen Murphy.
Rathmore came back strongly in the second half with Murphy, Aislinn Desmond and Aoife O’Callaghan especially prominent. An early Norma O’Mahony goal gave them some hope. but in spite of a plethora of scores from Murphy, Na Gaeil had too many aces in their pack and added further goals from Roche and Sheehy sealed their victory. Na Gaeil had fine performances from goalkeeper Laura Fitzgerald, Deirdre Kearney, Eilis and Brid O Connor, Sarah Barrett and Susan Fernane.
Na Gaeil scorers;
Meaghan Sheehy 1-2, Ayesha Roche 2 goals, Jadyn Lucey 1 goal, Megan O’Connor 0-2, Meabh Barry 0-2, Clodagh McHugh (0-1),Nora O’Connell(0-1).
Rathmore scorers; Noreen Murphy (0-10), Norma O’Mahony (1-2), Aoife O’Callaghan(0-1).

Mid Kerry and St Kierans bid for Minor Championship honours.
Billy Mangan Coaches Minor County Final.
Austin Stacks Park Friday 14th September @7.30.
The Kerry ladies minor championship made a welcome return this year having been absent from the fixtures calendar for a number of seasons. The championship was reformed as a district style competition, and despite the usual hiccups that a new format will bring, it has mostly been very well received by the teams that took part.
Central to the core of the competition has been the encouragement to give players of the minor age bracket as much game time as possible. Many young girls are lost to sport between the ages of 16 to 18, and one of the fundamental aims of the competition was to try and get as many as close to this age as possible playing in the games.
The two teams that have qualified for the final are worthy contenders. Mid Kerry look to be the stronger, and will go into the game as hot favourites. They have an abundance of Kerry underage players throughout their side and look to have a formidable line up. Players like Ciara Murphy, Tara Breen, Fiadhna Tangney, Hannah O’Donoghue, Ciara O’Brien, Kayleigh McGlashen, Ailbhe Cllifford and Mairead Lehane and have all worn the county minor jersey this year and Maeve Rochford and Caoimhe Evans are top class forwards. They can also call upon top Kerry U16 players like Rachel Evans, Ella Teahan, Clodagh Evans, Roisin Griffin and Maggie Kingston.
Mid Kerry started their minor championship with a very easy win over North Kerry and put a massive 5-17 on the scoreboard that day. They had a much tougher assignment against a strong East Kerry side in the semi final and after a ding dong battle came through on a 3-8 to 2-10 scoreline in the finish. There appears to be very few chinks in their armour, and there’s strength in depth throughout their panel.
St Kierans have a very different look about them in comparison. Labhaoise Walmsley and Kayla O’Connor both starred for the Kerry minors this year and are 2 of the players that they will be looking to for inspiration. Joyce O’Connor, Brid Moriarty, Siobhan Collins, Robyn White, Danni Reidy and Niamh Rahilly have also done really well in their campaign thus far. St Kierans can also call upon Kerry U16’s Gemma Kearney, Ciara Fitzgerald, Aisling O’Connell and Paris McCarthy.
The Castleisland District side began their campaign with a 4-9 to 2-5 victory over West Kerry in Lispole. Tralee awaited in the semi final but once again St Kierans came through on a 3-11 to 3-6 scoreline. They impressed in both games, but will have to improve further if they are to trouble Mid Kerry.
Whilst it looks like Mid Kerry should have too much quality for St Kierans, finals are notoriously difficult to predict and we could be in for a great game on Friday night.
Fossa Crowned Randles Bros Junior C Champions.
Randles Bros Junior C Championship Final
Fossa 4-13 Cromane 1-9
Fossa claimed their first ever junior championship title after a comprehensive 13 point win over a spirited Cromane outfit at John Mitchels GAA complex last Sunday.
The Killarney side really brought their best form to this encounter, and Kerry senior panelist Erica McGlynn showed her scoring prowess with a grand haul of 2 goals and 7 points. McGlynn was a part of the Killarney senior championship side that claimed top honours a week previously, and she had able back up in the flying Anna Clifford who tormented the Cromane side all afternoon.
Fossa certainly didn’t have it all their own way in the first half. They did take an early lead with two McGlynn points, before Roisin Griffin levelled matters for Cromane with 2 efforts of her own. Cromane did have the benefit of a strong wind ,but Fossa were playing the better football and added 3 more points to push them 5-2 ahead. Cromane’s Hannah Joy pointed to leave 2 between the sides but Fossa responded once more with scores from McGlynn and Anna O’Reilly to push them 4 ahead. Fossa had their keeper Susan Ahern to thank as she pulled off a double save from Hannah Joy and Roisin Griffin but from the kick out Jodie Sheehan pushed the winners further ahead.
Cromane’s Anne Marie Healy replied with two points, one from a free before Julie Cronin scored Fossa’s final point of the half to leave it Fossa 0-9 to Cromane 0-5 at the half time break.
Fossa started the second half in flying form and scores a goal from Anna O’Reilly and a point from Anna Clifford. Cromane responded and added points from Ann Marie Healy and Eimear Burke. Fossa’s wing forwards Orlagh Dineen and Anna Clifford were instrumental in many of their attacks, with Mollie Kelly and Shelly Clifford also going well.
Further efforts from McGlynn and Sheehan put Fossa 1-12 to 0-7 ahead. Cromane fought back once more and Hannah Joy scored a good goal which was added to with a Sinead O Neill point however, Fossa were in command however, and 3 goals on the bounce from Erica McGlynn (2) and Shelly Clifford put them out of sight.
Sheehan and Cromane’s Roisin Griffin traded points but soon afterwards the final whistle sounded and Fossa emerged as champions. For the winners Amy Moriarty, Katie Talbot,Maud Kelly and Orla Moynihan were rock solid in defence, whilst McGlynn, Shelly and Anna Cliffiord and Jodie Sheehan also showed well throughout the game.
Cromane had excellent performances from Cora Joy, Roisin Griffin, and Ann Marie Healy.
Fossa team;Susan Ahern, Amy Moriarty, Katie Talbot, Orla Moynihan, Aoife Kissane, Kate Murphy, Maud Kelly, Anna O Reilly (1-1) Erica McGlynn (2-7) Anna Clifford (0-1) Mollie Kelly, Orlagh Dineen, Jodie Sheehan (0-3) Rebecca O Sullivan Shelly Clifford (1-0) Julie Cronin(0-1) Ana Bellew, Sara Sheehan, Grace Cahillane, Fiona Dineen, Tracey Coffey, Meave Bellew, Sadie Myers, Eimear Talbot, Holly Kennelly, Fiona Kissane, Ciara Griffin.
Randles Bros Junior C Title Up For Grabs.
Cromane and Fossa face off in the Randles Bros Junior C final ay 12 noon on Sunday 9th September in John Mitchels GAA complex today and it promises to be a cracker.
Both sides have a mixture of youth and experience in their ranks and the final result could go right down to a kick of the ball.
Best of luck to both teams.
September County Board Meeting.
Clounmacon/Moyvane and Legion Face Off in Randles Bros Junior B Final.
Clounmacon/Moyvane take on Killarney Legion in the final of the Randles Bros Junior B Championship on Sunday 2nd September at Currans GAA Centre of Excellence at 1.30pm.
Both sides will really fancy their chances of lifting the title in this one as they’ve been showing some excellent form of late.
The Clounmacon/Moyvane team features a number of Kerry Camogie stars so they will certainly be fit and up for the task. Their captain Louise Horgan is a very solid full back and she will be helped by players like Sarah Breen and Ashlea Sheehy in what appears to be a very solid defence. Munster U18 rugby star Muirne Wall is bound to be very prominent at midfield alongside former Kerry minor Moira O’Flaherty, while up front Erin Finucane, Rebecca Horgan and Gillian Musgrave could do serious damage if given the opportunity.
Centra half back Sarah Leahy is the shining light in the Legion defence and the Kerry senior panelists pace could cause Clounmacon/Moyvane some problems. She will be helped by Zena Shine and Sonia Smith, whilst the midfield of Isabelle Corridan and Ellen Coffey form a very mobile unit. In the forwards Liz Mohan is Legion’s key player while Denise Lyne and Abbie Cronin will carry a major threat, The Legion bench is also very strong with Kerry minor Ciara Randles an excellent player, along with Kerry U16 players Tara Murphy and Kerri Ann Hanrahan.
This game is really difficult to predict a winner and there will only be a kick of a ball between the sides in the finish.

Randles Bros Championship Finals On Sunday 2nd September.
There are 2 massive finals up for grabs in the Randles Bros Championships at Legion GAA on Sunday 2nd September.
The senior final sees Rathmore take on Killarney at 12 noon while the Intermediate fnal features Na Gael and ISG, and they go into battle at 1.45.
Rathmore come into the senior final on the back of a comprehensive 6-14 to 3-6 semi final victory over 2017 champions Southern Gaels. The East Kerry side were on fire that day, and the south Kerry girls had no answer to their pace and power.
The Rathmore team features a number of players that have worn the county jersey at all levels and looks to be a formidable line up. They last won the championship in 2016 and will be keen to add to their honours list.
Players like Sinead Warren, Sarah Murphy, Aislinn Desmond, Brid Ryan,Caroline Reen and Aoife O’Callaghan give Rathmore a formidable look and if you add in Kerry U16 stars Daniele O’Leary and Mary Collins then it is clear to see why Rathmore come into the game as favourites to win the Caroline Broderick Perpetual Cup. The talent at Rathmore’s disposal is a credit to the brilliant underage work that the club has done over the past number of years.
Killarney are no slouches either though, and really put Castleisland Desmonds to the sword in their semi final with an impressive 6-11 to 0-9 victory. The Spa/ Dr Crokes/ Fossa combination also boasts a number of players that have starred for the county and they will be no pushovers. Players like Siobhan Burns, Kate Stack, Cassandra Buckley, Gina Crowley, Kate Maher, Loreta Maher, Mairead Finnegan, Amanda Brosnan and Anna Clifford really impressed in that victory ,while Eilish O’Leary and Erica McGlynn are certain to have a major say in the destination of the title.
On balance though it appears that Rathmore have the stronger outfit overall but don’t be surprised if Killarney rise to the occasion and cause a surprise. It promises to be a cracker!

The Intermediate semi final sees last years defeated finalists Na Gaeil do battle with surprise package ISG.
Tralee side Na Gaeil upset the apple cart when they firmly defeated pre championship favourites Beaufort in the semi final on a 4-10 to 0-8 scoreline having previously defeated Corca Dhuibhne at the quarter final stage.
They can call upon players like Laura Fitzgerald, Deirdre Kearney, Nora O’Connell, Mary O’Connell and Ayesha Roche, while their forward line has match winners in Megan Sheehy, Jadyn Lucey, Megan O Connor and Meabh Barry.
ISG come into the final under the radar and are very much an unknown quantity They have quality in their side however with Julie O’Sullivan, Laura O’Sullivan, Emma O’Sullivan, Katie Palmer and Julie Crowley certain to take the fight to Na Gaeil.
Overall though, it looks like Na Gaeil will have too much quality in their side to let this one slip.

Ballymac are crowned Rose Hotel Division 2 League Champions.
Ballymac were crowned the Rose Hotel U16 Division 2 champions after a superb victory over a never say die Miltown/Listry outfit in the beautiful surrounds of Fitzgerald Stadium tonight.
Centre forward Cora Savage was the star of the show for the winners and her final tally of 4 goals and 8 points was a testament to her all round brilliance on the night. Savage wasn’t alone in her endeavours though, and Ballymac’s excellent workrate and better use of the wide Fitzgerald Stadium pitch made all the difference on the night
Ballymac led by 2-10 to 2-3 at half time following a very entertaining first half. Ballymac’s first goal came in the 13th minute when the ball bobbled around in the M/L square and it appeared that their dashing midfielder Eve Creedon got the final touch on the ball before it hit the back of the net. Savage added an excellent individual point straight afterwards but Miltown/Listry’s reply was instant and the dangerous Ella Teahan struck the back of the net following a strong run to make it Ballymac 1-5 Miltown/Listry 1-2.
Savage with 2 frees and Teahan with one traded sores before Anna Griffin struck for Miltown/Listry’s second goal of the game in the 25th minute to leave just one point between the sides, 1-7 to 2-3.. Ballymac goalkeeper Ellie Sugruesaved smartly soon afterwards and from the breakaway Aisling O’Connell passed to Cora Savage who rattled the back of the Miltown/Listry net. Savage added 2 more points before the break, and O’Connell struck one and they took a 2-10 to 2-3 lead in the break.
Miltown/Listry started the second half brightly and Ella Teahan added 2 early points, one from a penalty. Ballymac were then awarded a penalty of their own and Savage clinically dispatched it into the back of the net. Eve Creedon goaled straight afterwards and suddenly Ballymac found themselves 4-10 to 2-5 ahead. Clodagh Evans burst into the game and traded points with Savage and Creedon, but once again Savage struck for2 goals on the bounce to put Ballymac out of sight. Credit to Miltown/Listry who never gave up and after points from Teahan and Evans ,the hard working Liathh Lenihan struck for their third goal of the game. Roisin Rahilly added another point for Ballymac and Lenihan responded once more for Miltown/Listry but as the final whistle sounded Ballymac were deserved winners of an excellent contest.
Special mention must go to Ballymac’s Lorna Daly who kept goal for them all through the campaign but unfortunately missed the final through illness.
Ballymac Scorers ; Cora Savage 4-8 (1 goal pen, 0-5f), Eve Creedon 2-2, Aisling O’Connell 0-1, Niamh Rahilly 0-1.
Miltown/Listry Scorers; Ella Teahan 1-6 (0-3f, 0-1 pen), Clodagh Evans 0-5, Liath Lenihan 1-1, Anna Griffin 1 goal.
