The following course is on offer in the National Learning Network Tralee
My name is Mary Herlihy and I am an instructor on the Sporting Chance course in the National Learning Network Tralee. Sporting Chance offers a QQI Level 4 or 5 Major Award in Sport, Recreation and Exercise, specifically for people who may require additional support due to a variety of reasons including those with physical disabilities, mental health difficulties, learning difficulties or people who may have experienced a personal setback.
We also offer ITEC qualifications in areas such as Gym Instruction and Sports Massage, pool lifeguard training (optional) and swim teaching qualifications. In addition, students gain practical experience in areas such as teaching fitness classes, personal training and sports coaching.
We provide a variety of supports in a number of areas including learning, stress management, job seeking skills. We also place a strong emphasis on confidence building and developing communication skills.
The course runs right throughout the year and you applicants start at any time once we have a space available. We run certain modules at different times of the year. You don’t have to complete them in order so you can start with the modules currently in progress. The course is free and all participants receive a training allowance and may also be entitled to a rent allowance of €70. We welcome applicants from throughout Ireland. I would be delighted to discuss the course in more detail or to arrange a visit to the centre. Please feel free to contact me at 066 7122533 or 086 0404270 if you require further information. Many thanks for your help.
