Registration of Volunteers (Covid – 19)

Hi all,
Kerry LGFA in conjunction with Kerry Co. Council and Kerry GAA are cooperating in the County wide coordinated Covid-19 response . This will led by Kerry County Council.

Our role is non-medical and we will act as a non-emergency support for vulnerable people living locally who may need assistance with shopping, fuel, medicine etc, being collected and delivered.

We are asking all Club secretaries to act as the Club Liaison person when receiving a communication and logging the data. If you are not in a position act as the Club Liasion, you might arrange to nominate another person within the Club and communicate details of this person directly to Kerry Co. Council.

To start off, the Call Takers (Kerry Co. Council Staff) will send the Club Liaison person an email, or ring them, with cases for their area.

The Club Liaison, on receipt of the request will then contact their on the ground Volunteers – this can be by whatever works for your club – WhatsApp groups, predefined rosters, etc.

When the task is done, the on the ground Volunteer will let their Liaison know, and they can update the Call Takers by email or over the phone.

All volunteers involved in the Local Authority Community Response will require a letter of Authorisation from Kerry Co. Council in order to carry out their work / deliveries / collections etc. within the essential travel guidelines that currently apply.

Can you organise to complete the attached excel sheet with the Club name and the names and addresses only of all your volunteers. (Attached at the bottom of page)

Please ensure your volunteers are:

  • Registered with your Club
  • Garda Vettted
  • Actively part of the Community response initiative

Kerry County Council will issue an individual letter to each volunteer who can then produce this to a member of the Gardaí if so requested during the next number of weeks when making deliveries or collecting items.

Could you email the full list of volunteers directly to the following email; 

If possible you might endeavour to email this list by tonight so the individual letters will issue promptly.
