Congratulations to John Mitchels who captured the Junior B title on Saturday evening 11th Oct defeating Finuge/St Senans. They created a little bit of history as it was the first ever Adult Grade Ladies title in the club. Played under lights at John Mitchels Complex last Saturday evening this match was exciting from the throw in where Louise Galvin Finuge/St Senans ran the length of the field to score the first point of the game. Mitchels shook by this early score steadied and responded with 4 points coming from Katelyn O Sullivan, Niamh Myers (0-2) and Shauna Hannafin. A bullet of a goal by Katelyn O Sullivan after 20 mins gave Mitchels a commanding lead and they looked set to over run the North Kerry side .However the North Kerry ladies lifted by Louise Galvin and Niamh Carmody at midfield now began to press Mitchels and a long ball to Jackie Horgan was finished well to the Mitchels net.The sides traded scores and a Louise Galvin goal left the half time score John Mitchels 1-7 Finuge St Senans 2-2.

The second half was a thrilling 30  mins with Mitchels running into a commanding lead of 2-9 to 2-3 with Natasha O Sullivan Mitchels getting their second goal. Finuge/St Senans with Emma Mc Carthy on the 40 once again responded with 2 points from Niamh Carmody bringing them back into game now entering the final quarter 2-9 to 2-5 Mitchels were awarded a penalty which was well saved by Ann Mc Carthy Finuge/St Senans keeper. This inspired Finuge and the hard working Martina Guiney in defense, Jackie Horgan ,Niamh Carmody & Anne Marie Leen saw them pull back Mitchels lead and when Louise Galvin hit her second goal of the night score was now Finuge 3-9 Mitchels 2-11, points from Niamh Myers ,Katelyn O Sullivan and Natasha O Sullivan. As the game entered the final minutes there was a swelter of excitement as both teams looked to finish off the game. With Mitchels a point down now Finuge pressed forward but  great defensive work by goalie Andrea O Connor, Patriz Brosnan, Jane Carmody and Kayleigh McCarthy lifted the siege and in a great sweeping move up the field Mitchels Katelyn O Sullivan gave a great pass into Ciara Kilgallen who made no mistake and finished to the net to give Mitchels a 2 point lead, from the kick out Mitchels won possession again through Katelyn O Sullivan and Ciara Kilgallen passed to Niamh Myers who hit the net  for another Mitchels Goal. A frantic & exciting finish to a great game .Final Score John Mitchels 4-11 Finuge St Senans 3-9, disappointment for Finuge/St Senans  as they were also defeated in last years final. Great scenes of celebration followed as Mitchels Captain Andrea O Connor was presented with the winning trophy from Kerry Ladies Chairperson Pat Hartnett. Both teams can be very proud of their displays as the game went to the wire & in the balance up to the very end.
