Double Delight For Ballymac In The Rose Hotel Leagues.

Ballymac had double celebrations this week when their U/12’s won a historic U/12 Division 1 county title with victory over Austin Stacks and their U/14s won the Division 2 title with victory over Beale /Ballyduff.

John Mitchels hosted the clash of Ballymac and Austin Stacks on Sunday evening last to decide the u12 Division One Ladies County League Champions for 2018.
The opening exchanges were closely fought as both sides gave it their all to gain the upper hand and at the end of the first quarter the sides were level at 0-2 apiece.
Ballymac then hit a purple patch scoring 3-4 which included goals from Rachel Creedon Laura Sugrue and Kate Collins.Stacks hit the net on the stroke of half time with Holly O Brien on target to leave the score at the break Ballymac 3-6 Austin Stacks 1-3.
The town side began the second half in determined fashion with Lucy O Connor outstanding at center back played  some excellent football added a succession of points to narrow the gap.The goal they needed to further reduce the deficite didn’t materialise mainly due to some resolute
defending by the Ballymac backs with Alexia Weiss at full back winning ball and clearing her lines to great effect.
Another Ballymac goal late in the half courtesy of Kate Collins saw the girls in Blue triumph on a scoreline of Ballymac 4-10 Austin Stacks 1-9.
Mention must also be made of referee Dan Hayes who handled the game very well allowing the game flow whenever possible.
On the night Ballymac played some outstanding football with the whole team contributing to their victory. Rachel Griffen and Kate Collins at midfield played themselves to a standstill , goalie Laura Kelly played her part too with sound handling and clever kick outs but in essence they gave the perfect team performance.
Stacks can be proud of the effort they put in on the night as they kept battling until the final whistle.
U12 co-ordinator Nora Fealey presented the trophy to joint captains Orla O Connor and Kate Collins making it an historic occasion for the Ballymac Ladies Club as it was the first time for a team from the Club to win a Division One Co League title.
