Formats decided for 2020 TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Championships

Formats decided for 2020 TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Championships
THE formats for the 2020 TG4 All-Ireland Junior, Intermediate and Senior Ladies Football Championships have been ratified – and the draws will take place on Tuesday evening, June 30.

The 2020 Senior Championship will be contested by 12 counties – with four groups of three teams each set to battle it out in the round-robin stages.

The top team in each group will progress straight through to the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship semi-finals.

The 2019 semi-finalists, namely Champions Dublin, runners-up Galway, and Cork and Mayo, will be seeded and placed in separate round-robin groups.

An open draw will then determine who will join those four teams in the various pools.

The 2020 TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship will be contested by 13 counties – and will also be run off on a round-robin format to determine the four semi-finalists.

There will be three groups of three teams, and one group of four, in the qualifier phase, with the top team in each group progressing to the last four of the competition.

Westmeath, who were relegated from the TG4 Senior Championship in 2019, are one of the seeded teams, along with Meath, the 2019 Intermediate Championship runners-up, and last year’s beaten semi-finalists Roscommon and Sligo.

Six counties, meanwhile, will compete in the 2020 TG4 All-Ireland Junior Championship – Antrim, Derry, Fermanagh (the 2019 runners-up), Carlow, Wicklow and Limerick.

An open draw will take place to make up two groups of three teams – with the top two teams in each pool then progressing to the semi-finals.

It is envisaged that each Championship will be played off over seven weekends, with a two-week break between the conclusion of the group phases and the All-Ireland semi-finals, and a further two-week break between the semi-finals and Finals.

The dates for the round-robin fixtures, and the All-Ireland semi-finals and Finals, will be agreed upon and circulated in due course. Further details relating to the running of the Championships will also be finalised shortly.

Plans for 2020 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps Unveiled

16 June 2020

Plans for 2020 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps Unveiled
The GAA, in conjunction with Kellogg’s and TG4, are pleased to announce new plans for the staging of the 2020 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps.  The camps themselves will start on July 20th with an exciting new GAA Cúl Camp TV programme airing on TG4 getting kids warmed up from June 29th.

This first phase of camp activity will be broadcast Monday to Friday from 10.25 to 11.00am and repeated at 5.15pm from June 29th to July 17th. It will also be available on the TG4 player making the return to camp activity, both live and on demand, available to everyone at home and abroad.

The GAA Cúl Camps series will be produced by Waterford based Nemeton TV, and presented by Gráinne Bleasdale.  Gráinne has had many roles on stage and television, as a puppeteer and as a presenter, including Operation Transformation -10@10 (RTÉ), Ros na Rún (TG4), Déan É! (TG4), Dig In Saol Faoi Shráid (TG4).

The series will include skills, drills, games, nutrition, and wellness segments that will appeal to all the family from multiple All-Ireland winning Cork Camogie and Football star, Rena Buckley, Dublin hurler Liam Rushe and former Donegal footballer star Kevin Cassidy.

Recent developments with the Government and GAA roadmaps, and extensive planning relating to health and safety, mean details for this year’s camps can now be confirmed. In line with the Safe Return to Gaelic Games Document, children will be welcomed back to club venues around the country from July 20th.

A list of all venues will be confirmed on the cúl camp website https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/ on June 22nd when bookings reopen.

Prices are as follows:

First child €65.00/£55.00

Second child €60.00 / £50.00

Third+ children €50.00 /£45.00

Camp times may be altered in selected venues due to the current circumstances.

Morning: (09.30 to 13.30)

Mid-morning: (10.00 to 14.00)

Afternoon: (14.30 to 18.30)

These options will be clearly outlined on the camps website and details on specific camps safety protocols will be shared with all those registering for camps.

The Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps kit is a huge part of our camps with mass appeal among primary school children all around the country and beyond.  Given current circumstances, camps schedules may be reduced in certain counties which has prompted the GAA to pursue the option of making kit available for sale for children who may not get the option to participate in the 2020 camp programme.  Kit will be available for sale online at https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/

For the over 4,000 people who had pre-registered for 2020 camps, they have been contacted with three options; 1) a full refund 2) a delivery of kit and a refund of the remaining amount or 3) priority for a place on one of our re-scheduled camps.

To allow for all health and safety measures, capacity at certain camp locations and venues may be reduced this year and in some instances demand for places will outstrip availability.  Early booking is strongly advised.

Due to the narrow window for Adult football we are proposing that we play the Championship on a league basis. This will maximise the number of games we can provide to clubs. The executive understand that this is a change from championship structures already agreed and we are requesting the support of the clubs for this championship format to take place for this year. The Munster quarter finals, semi finals and finals must be completed by the deadline of Oct 11 so the dates we have provided cannot be pushed back under any circumstances.

We know that these are exceptional circumstances and we would like to thank all clubs and their volunteers for everything they have been doing to help their clubs and communities in these uncertain times.
